Dear West Clermont families,
Welcome again to the already memorable 2020-21 school year!
To say that last school year ended absolutely like no other would be the understatement of the century. As a result of this incredible pandemic, there have been countless unknowns, pivots and tough decisions for all of us in all facets of our lives. But I do know for certain that, despite it all, we will enter this school year with COURAGE TOGETHER!
Our children are our greatest assets and we are excited for the opportunity to serve them again. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding throughout the huge undertaking of preparing for a school year that already is like no other. Our staff has worked hard throughout the summer months, solidifying their student-centered decisions to provide a continuum of learning options for the 2020-21 school year. These plans include a brick-and-mortar traditional experience and an option to learn full-time online in the West Clermont Online Academy (WCOA), which is currently the largest school we have with almost 2,000 students! Launching the WCOA was no small feat, and we are excited to offer this opportunity for us to learn and grow together through this new experience.
It is important you know that we are committed to serving your children no matter what challenges we face. We must all do what we can to remain agile, empathetic and alert. At any given time, we will have students and staff who are attending brick-and-mortar school, engaging in classes remotely because they are on quarantine or ill, and students and staff teaching and learning in the full-time WCOA program. There are a lot of moving parts for all involved, and how we teach and learn, how we operate and how we communicate with one another is all changing and evolving. Trust, transparent communication, dedication and courage must be how we come together to LEARN. LEAD. SUCCEED.
We remain steadfast to our commitment to student and staff safety and we are counting on everyone to commit to following the WC Stop the Spread protocols. Sending healthy students to school is the best way for us to be able to continue to operate. To keep us in school, all students, staff and families must do their part. Please keep your children home if they are experiencing any symptoms. Although we are awaiting more guidance from the governor’s latest mandate about reporting, we already plan to begin the year with communicating possible exposure to COVID-19 with you as best as we can.
Success for this school year means that we are connecting personally with each student and family, meeting them where they are, and providing our learners with the support they need to learn academically, socially and emotionally. I am grateful for the support, involvement and resiliency shown by our staff, our students and our community. We are a community on the rise…together!
Natasha L. Adams, Superintendent
